Krista J. Kapralos is a reporter at The Herald in Everett, WA, where she has worked since 2005. She covers American Indian tribes and minority issues, including tribal politics and local refugee communities. She also writes about religion. Prior to her time in Everett, Kapralos covered minority issues at the Observer-Dispatch in Utica, NY. Her beat included refugees, immigrants and American Indian tribes. She has reported from Bosnia on that country’s rebirth and its impact on Bosnian refugees in the United States. Kapralos has also written about crime, poverty and city government issues. Kapralos holds a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language, and has taught in India, the United States, and informally in other countries. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies, and earned an M.A. in journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
